Nature Walk ... In the Rain

The Metro field was wet, and I was soaked to my knees.
It was worth it!
White clover (Trifolium repens)

A pink tree caught my eye ... a hawthorn! This pink variety is not native to our area - it must have escaped from someone's yard.

But it is still a beautiful color.

False Solomon's Seal (Smilacina racemosa) - now in full bloom.
I was surprised to see this one so close to the road ... they usually prefer places that have more shade.

Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw movement.
A deer and her newborn fawn!

What a wonderful walk! By the time I got home, I was cold and wet, but very very happy.
And I hear it's supposed to rain again today!!!
Yee haw!

  1. oh my, what a gorgeous time you had out there! So many treasures, beauty and magic. That top photo - ooh la la. Mamma and fawn, so lovely!

I carry a childs size knee pad with me when I walk and do macro photography. It makes it easy to stay some what dry, toss it down and am on my knees in a sec, which makes it easier to hold the camera still. Also so handing for sitting on for breaks. Just a thought.

  2. Oooh, Sissy! I love the idea of that little fawn being the size of a bumblebee! What a perfectly lovely photo--and those flowers are gorgeous too...fill my eyes, they do.

I like Tammie's idea of a knee pad to kneel on while taking macros! lol Good idea Tammie!
