Alligator Lizard

Oregon Alligator Lizard, Elgaria multicarinata scincicauda

I rescued this alligator lizard from the cats, who were chasing him around a flower pot. He had already lost his tail (a common defense mechanism - but it still looked painful), and looked scared.

I wrapped him in a leaf, and carried him to a safe haven. Along the way, he watched every move I made - especially when I pulled out the camera for a close up.

  3. Remember Lizzie? I have such good memories of that wonderful alligator lizard. When we lived in Gramma's basement we found her under a garbage can. We let her go, but she came back, to live in an aquarium. I used to take her out and would pretend she was my microphone as I sang. She loved my singing. lol

Then she and I would go outside and bask in the sun together. She would lie on my hand as I would read a book. Such great friends we were. Silly isn't it?

I still miss that sweet little lizard.

  4. Hi there! I've photographed many a lizard and even caught one running on the grass blades on the lawn. Had to save him from the dog! As for my picture of the coyote; if you only knew his nature.....stuffed to the gills the only "real" thing on him is the tail! But he was really friendly :)
