Skunk Cabbage with Reflection - Weekend Reflections

We smelled it before we found the bloom.
You know, there's a reason it's called "SKUNK Cabbage"!

They grow in wet, swampy areas.
Like beside Mill Creek as it meanders down the canyon behind the house, all the way to the Willamette River just to our south.

It was a beautiful day for a hike with my sister Beth, and we had a wonderful time pointing out the beauty we saw. Thank you James for your Weekend Reflections at Newton Area photo . You added a whole new dimension to our day in the woods! Because we both delighted in being the first to find, you guessed it -- Reflections! I was indeed blessed to have caught this one first!

  1. Hahahaaa...your skunk cabbage reflection turned out SO well. Strange that something which smells so, er, aromatic could be so beautiful. (grin)

I still go back in my mind to that magical walk, Sissy. Reflecting back when things get a little tough.

    ((hugs))

    Happy Weekend Reflections!

  2. I don't think that I've ever seen or smelled skuk cabbage before. I really stands out well in this picture. I'm glad I can't smell it though.

  3. Now that is dedication to the reflection meme! I might have made a wide circle around this "lovely" plant. It is pretty though.

  4. skunk cabbage! It's blooming like crazy here right now and they get HUGE, like 3 -4 feet tall! I don't really mind their smell, ha! But it is quite strong :)

  6. Nice reflection and a pretty flower, though I can't take my eyes from those pink ones in the previous post. Breathtaking, both.
    Happy Easter!
