Rose Hearts

This is the time of year for mom's roses ...
Many have already come and gone, many more are just now starting to bloom.

After a brief shower, I was taking pictures from behind the roses ... and noticed the hearts!

The Brave Little Gopher

What could this plucky little gopher be saying?

To the monster cat that had him cornered?

Something tells me it wasn't very nice!

(The cat eventually gave up, and the gopher was carried to his new home across the street - by me!)

Oh Deer, It's Twins!

I was walking along the trails of The Abandoned when a slight movement caught my eye. A baby deer! And it wasn't afraid of me at all!

See the hearts in it's spotted coat?

More movement caught my eye ...
TWINS!!!

Alligator Lizard

Oregon Alligator Lizard, Elgaria multicarinata scincicauda

I rescued this alligator lizard from the cats, who were chasing him around a flower pot. He had already lost his tail (a common defense mechanism - but it still looked painful), and looked scared.

I wrapped him in a leaf, and carried him to a safe haven. Along the way, he watched every move I made - especially when I pulled out the camera for a close up.
