Raindrops

As much as I get tired of the rain ...
I love the raindrops!

Even plain old grass becomes beautiful ...

Do you ever get the feeling of being "watched"???

Insect Eats Its Heart Out!

This is one of the first pictures taken with my "new" used camera after my old one died rather spectacularly ... I am still getting used to the differences ...

But soon it will feel at home in my hand!!!

"Bugga Bugga Bugga"

When my kids were little, all insects were "bugga bugga bugga"

Even pretty ones like this cinnebar moth.
Or is it cinnabar moth?

I'm not sure what kind of "bugga" this one is, but he posed just long enough to get a picture!

And this intriguing "bugga" is worth enlarging - he's quite photogenic!

"Bugga Bugga Bugga!!!"

Of Rainbows and Surprises ...

I was driving back from an errand in Portland when I saw this beautiful spot of rainbow in the sky overhead. I pulled over at the top of the hill, and managed to one shot before needing to move on.

When I got home, I rushed outside ... only to find the spot of rainbow had encircled the sun!

On the news last night, our local weatherman explained that this is a "refracted" rainbow ... which he explained as a somewhat rare phenomenon where the sun hits ice crystals and refracts around them instead of through them (as with usual rainbows).

P.S. - Do you see the heart in the trees???

I looked at my pictures on the computer ... and that's when I got the surprise!

There was an airplane flying through my "sunbow"!!!
(if you enlarge the photo, you will see it even better!)

Springtime walk ...

The fruit trees are blossoming!

The grass is growing ... fast!

And look what else I saw ...
A little deer behind!

I just realized this Springtime theme fits in perfectly with Tablescaper's "Seasonal Sundays" - where the theme this week is "Spring"!

Ladybug Colors ...

Her colors are what first caught my eye ...
I'd never seen a ladybug like this before!

As I focused my camera on her, I noticed she was sitting on a leafy heart!

Rain Splash Heart

The rain stopped for a few days ...
But it's back.
My camera doesn't like dreary days, and neither do I!

Although ... without the rain we wouldn't have beautiful splash hearts!

After the Rains ... A Walk in the Woods

Spring is upon us, and the sun is finally peeking out from the rain clouds ... now and then.

Sissie and I took the opportunity of a cool, unsettled day to visit the forest, reviving childhood memories of tree forts and fairy-inspired games!

The critters were out taking in the brief moments of sunlight ...

While the runoff from the ditch above the canyon cut a chasm, guarded by a heart-shaped root!

(Guest Heart Thursday!)

The sun peeking through the storm clouds brought out the sparkling forest gems!!!

Even when the storm broke overhead, and the rain returned ... there was still beauty to be found ...

(Weekend Reflections!)

Thank you for joining us on our walk through the woods.
It was fun, wasn't it?

Wind and Rain Bring Hearts

We have had a wet and windy Spring ...
Sometimes it was hard to find the beauty in so much dreariness ...
Until I saw the cute heart in a broken fallen tree branch ...

And this tree root that had pushed up through the wet soil ...

Raindrop on Red Currant

The red currants are finally starting to bloom, in spite of our wet and soggy winter and spring.

So ... this is my first contribution this year to Tina's PicStory's "Weekend Flowers"!

Do you see the reflection of the fence in the raindrop?
It reminds me that it's "Friday Fences" time!

And be sure to join us over at James' "Weekend Reflections" too!

It's not often that I can cover 3 memes in one picture!!!

Wasp Nest in the Rain ...

Last week Sissie and I took a walk over at the once-abandoned church property ... the demolition company has been hard at work, and there were piles of rubble everywhere.

I found this old wasp nest on a piece of twisted metal - glistening wetly in the rain. I was glad it was an old one!

Because if it was a new one, I never would have ventured close enough to find this heart!

Raindrops on Grasses

March roared in like the proverbial lion yesterday, with every kind of weather imaginable!
We woke up to a light dusting of snow, then were treated to wind and rain, and even a few moments of sunshine.

Even the grass was grateful for the hints of Spring!

It snowed!!! Or did it???

I woke up to a cold dark morning ... I turned on the TV, and the weatherman said "snow!" The roving reporters stationed about the city (of which I am not a resident, but live somewhat south of) were excitedly showing off their "Live" shots of the white stuff ... several roads were closed!

I couldn't wait for daybreak, a chance to go play.
I made a fire, and a pot of coffee; and waited.

Slowly the dark unfolded into light.
I ran outside with my camera.

Where was the snow?
I couldn't find it!!!
I ventured further - to the end of the driveway.
On one small landscape board - FINALLY - some snow.

The cats had already found this tiny pristine piece of white ...
and left their paw print heart.

As it turned out, it did indeed snow. The small hill just behind the house is white with it.
Just not here!
Sigh.
Maybe next year.

The Sun Finally Broke Through ...

When the sun finally broke through yesterday, after a wintertime of gray, it was greeted with joy and beauty!

Nature's Jewels glittered everywhere - diamonds, amethysts, amber!

And pearls.
