Raccoon

He came to visit yesterday,
Climbed up the tree to escape
These crazy 2-legged animals
Taking his picture

He curled up in a ball
And slept soundly
For a few hours.
When it was dark, he left.

These sapling cherry leaves caught my eye,
Half and half.
How do they do that?

And what was this pink thing on the driveway?
Turns out it was a naked acorn!!!
I had no idea they were newborn pink inside.

Peekaboo Fog

The fog came in yesterday morning, nearly obliterating the trees.

Same view, 5 minutes later.

And end up in unexpected places ...

These Ginkgo leaves will soon join the show ...

Glowing Fall Leaves

Down in the woods ...

Across the vacant fields ...

Even here at home.

The leaves are glowing with the colors and textures of fall --
On this blustery showery day.

Berries

Hawthorne

Oregon Grape

Wild Rose Hips

High Bush Cranberries

It's the time of year when the colors of summer have faded, and the vivid colors of fall have only just begun to show themselves.

Fog

A misty fall morning ...

Mutes bright fall colors ...

Reveals nature's patterns that I have missed before.

Sunshine will come later, with a whole new perspective.

The oak leaves are starting to fall.

The acorns are dropping on the roof - bam! bam! Pow!

And this pileated woodpecker came to check out the birch tree by the pond.

Autumn is here indeed.

The hawthorn trees are loaded with berries this year.

And all of the trees are loaded with spiders.
They always seem to aim for my face when I am walking through the garden.

Mid-September blueberries

The peppers are nearly ready to harvest

The lot across the street has suddenly been overrun with beautiful fuzzy caterpillars

Under Construction

Come back soon to see what I come up with.
